Hunting for shrooms...
This enchanting little fairy is on a mission, possibly collecting
ingredients for a coming party or celebration! She has been recycled
from an old antique tea spoon, found lying around in a house clearance
shop in Suffolk. (The lady at the shop was happy for me to clear out
all of the old cutlery as she claimed that people just didn't want it
any more. And that most of it had been there for years taking up space
in an increasingly clutered shop!)
Firstly, I have drawn the fairy and
shrooms onto the spoon and then meticulously cut around them with a
fine jewellers saw. After carving away the inner sections, I finish
the piece with some filing and polishing. I then attach a secure brooch
fitting to the rear.
Each one of these brooches will be created in the exact same manner, using the exactly the same raw materials.
Another 100% recycled piece of 'one-off' jewellery,
handcrafted in Cambridge.
