Yet another tree brooch.. I know, what can i do? i love trees. This one is a symbol of new growth, spring, wishes coming true.

 

It is hand pierced using a simple jewellers saw. A miniture drill is used to allow access to cut away the inner branch detail. Much time and patients is spent cutting away the form of the tree from the soup spoon raw material. Then, normally when i am about to give up and throw the spoon, a cute little tree is borne of an old battered spoon. Yipee! This is then carefully filed, smoothed and polished.

 

The only remaining hint that this lovely tree was a spoon in a previous life is the beveled outter shape, mirroring that of a spoon that is still a spoon. If you know what i mean?
