Its raining, its pouring..
but above the clouds are stars...
These new orginal earrings are Glastonbury festival 2007 inspired
pieces. After over a week of living in the muddy festival city of Glastonbury
many ideas for new creations are born. These lovely, delicately created
earrings are made from sterling silver English 'shillins' coins. Thus,
not only are they recycled, but they have a fantastic history and story.
Passed from person to person, spent, traded, saved, given as a gift
for a hundred years. Now out of circulation, these coins are so worn
and have so many 'imperfections' they are uncollectible. Bought and
donated as scrap, these coins are transformed and re-born as cute silver
jewellery.
The techniques used to create the earrings are simple and traditional
(and can been seen in the Workshop section). The clouds are created
from silver shillins, while the stars are handcut from old English copper
pennies and brass 'thrupney-bits'. The earrings are suspended on sterling
silver earwires.
made with love.
