Recycled silver Half Crown
El-ahrairah is a rabbit trickster folk hero, who is the protagonist of nearly all of the rabbits’ stories. He represents what every rabbit wants to be: smart, devious, tricky, and devoted to the well-being of his warren. A complex folklore was created around him in both Watership Down and Tales from Watership Down. In Lapine, his name is a contraction of the phrase Elil-Hrair-Rah, meaning “prince with a thousand enemies”. Inspired by Richard Adams masterpiece ‘Watership Down’ I have created this flying hare necklace, my vision of El-ahrairah.
This lovely mystical leaping and flying moon rabbit pendant has been gently handcrafted from an old sterling silver half crown coin. The coin has been forcefully flattened, hand cut, carved, engraved, filed and polished. The look and feel of this old English silver is perfect. Each and every feather completely unique and original.
The pendant is suspended from a delicate unobtrusive silver chain, adorned with an integrated moon and stars cut from the same half crown silver coin.
