Recycled silver Crown coin
This fabulous butterflies and flowers ‘Indian summer’ necklace is crafted from a sterling silver Georgian Crown coin, dated 1890’s.
The coin was flattened out in my usual manner. Once stretched out to the desired working shape i simply drew the design on with a fine nibbed marker pen. This rough sketch is then embellished and used as a approx guide line for my piercing saw work and carving. From here the pendant was filed, sanded, polished, and finished with some extreme fine line intricate engraving. She is finished with a golden crown and beautiful bronze star cut from an old ‘thrupney bit’ coin, hanging freely at the hand wrought ‘shepards crook’ safety catch.
Obviously the ‘off-cut’ of the remaining silver coin is packed with the silver Indian summer butterfly and flower necklace for your interest and to keep its history, origin and story alive
Size : Approx 74 mm * 40 mm
Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).
