Recycled sterling silver Victorian fork
I worked on this sterling silver tree branch and leaves design for a great deal of time! I eventually decided to hand cut each one of these from only the finest antique sterling silver forks (each one being between 100 – 200 years old). Obviously I only use cutlery that has found its way to me due to being unwanted by antiques dealers due to no longer being part of a set. Single items of old cutlery are dificult to sell and tend to sit around in shops, looking lonely for years. I love to ‘adopt’ these little orphans and reinvent them as gorgeous wearable jewellery.
Each green leaves bangle is completely unique, individual and original, oh, and 100% ethical and recycled! The design is freehand drawn onto the surface of the of the fork handle. This basic sketch is embelished and detailed with a miniture hand saw and micro drill. Once cut out the piece is formed into a lovely bangle. A single fork prong remains and is twirled into a fab little spiral. This adds a wonderful detail hinting towards the bangles origin. It is then polished to a shiny finish or brushed matte finish. The bangle looks impressively and deceptively delicate when worn. It is in fact extremely solid being made from a sterling silver dessert fork and will last and flourish for many lifetimes..
