A little more detail…
Autumnal Fall – Recycled Penny coin pendant
Each autumn tree coin pendant i design and create is completely hand-cut and hand carved with a traditional jewellers saw, super fine precision chisels and gravers. This time consuming process allows both a closer connection with the piece that is being made and ultimately a more involved, intricate finished item.
Every pendant is totally recycled, offering the wearer something extra…. more than just a lovely piece of jewellery… They come freshly served on an adjustable cotton braided neck cord.
You are welcome to choose to have the design cut from a penny (pictured) or a slightly smaller (25 mm) half penny coin. Occasionally I will have Gothic Florins to offer a silver version of the design.
I love bare autumn trees, they give me feelings of vulnerability, emptiness, resilience, hardship, spiritual barrenness, and the cyclical nature of life and death. They kind of represent a person’s exposed state without protection, a period of struggle or desolation, a lack of spiritual fruitfulness, or the dormant phase before new growth and renewal.
Bare trees, devoid of their protective leaves, can symbolize feelings of loneliness, emptiness, and exposure to the elements. They evoke a sense of being without protection, naked, or defenseless against adversity.
The bare autumnal nature of a tree can represent a harsh reality or struggle for survival, akin to the desolation caused by drought. Despite their leafless appearance, bare trees embody resilience, as they endure winter and await the renewal of their leaves and blossoms. This endurance symbolizes the hope for new beginnings and the promise of rebirth after a difficult period, emphasizing the cyclical nature of life.
The changing seasons of trees—from budding to full leaf and back to bareness—serve as a metaphor for the passage of time and the constant cycle of life, death, and renewal.
