A little more detail…
Birdsong ring – Recycled 120 year old silver coin.
The Birdsong ring design is freehand drawn onto the surface of the of the silver coin. This basic sketch is embellished and detailed with traditional hand gravers, a little hand saw and tiny drill. Once cut out the piece is formed into a lovely ring uniquely using the reminder of the coin. This is a tricky and very original method of making the ring. Making it in this painstaking manner allows me to leave lots of original coin details to enjoy. It Is then polished to a wonderful finish. The appearance of the ring is substantial yet delicate and intricate. It is super comfortable for continuous everyday wear due to the thinly tapered rear of the ring. Size : Approx widest point 15 mm
Birds bring to mind joy, freedom, and the beauty of nature. Their melodious songs represent happiness and harmony, while their ability to fly embodies freedom and escape. They can also symbolize innocence, new beginnings, and even the human soul. Different species of songbirds can carry specific symbolic meanings, such as the robin’s association with hope and renewal, or the nightingale’s connection to love and lament.
