The dove is an extremely powerful symbol, most commonly representing peace, love, and purity. It also symbolizes hope, the Holy Spirit, and even sorrow or mourning, depending on the context. Its gentle nature and association with tranquility make it a versatile image in art and literature.
The dove is a universally recognized symbol of peace, often depicted with an olive branch, referencing the biblical story of Noah and the flood. In many cultures and artistic contexts, the dove embodies harmony and the resolution of conflict.
The dove’s gentle nature and beauty have long been associated with love and romance. In Greek mythology, the dove was linked to Aphrodite, the goddess of love.
The dove is also a symbol of purity, innocence, and gentleness, particularly in religious texts. In the Bible, the dove is associated with the Holy Spirit, descending upon Jesus after his baptism.
