Recycled ‘out of circulation’ Pound coin
This solid golden bronze one pound coin was issued with many variations in design. From my perspective the really lovely feature of the coin is its unique thickness and accompanying edge detail.
The Latin inscription “Decus et Tutamuen” on the side of the coin translates to English as ‘An Ornament and a Safeguard’! They must’ve know as soon as they were taken out of circulation Hairy Growler would be putting them to work of protective amulets.
Every single one of these pendants is different, unique and unusual. All are symbolic, beautiful and meaningful, depending on the eye of the beholder.
Each pendant requires many hours of careful carving and engraving. The pendant is carefully and gradually crafted from the centre of the old English pound coin.
Handcrafted and recycled in Cambridge, UK.
Size : Approx 22 mm diameter
