A little more detail…
Raven Moon Ring
Forged from the bones of old things, the Raven Moon Ring brings together three separate histories in one small, watchful piece.
The band began as an antique fork tine.
The silver detail was cut from a 150-year-old half crown.
The moon was shaped from a gold sovereign. (other options available)
Each element had already lived a life before it reached the bench. A domestic object. A coin carried through countless hands. Gold that once stood for value in another age. Brought together, they become something far more intimate and strange: a raven resting beneath a crescent moon, held in precious metal and made to be worn.
This is the kind of piece I love most at Hairy Growler. Not simply jewellery, but transformation. Old silver and gold are not melted into anonymity here. Their past lives still matter. Their age still matters. Their texture, their character, their sense of having already passed through time — all of that remains, and becomes part of the meaning of the ring.
The raven has long stood in myth as a keeper of thresholds: messenger, watcher, scavenger, guide. A creature of intelligence, shadow, and second sight. Paired with the crescent moon, it becomes something quieter and deeper still — a symbol of instinct, change, and the hidden life that moves just beyond the visible world.
Hand made from reclaimed precious materials, this ring carries that atmosphere with it. Dark silver. Warm gold. A small flash of ancient moonlight against a blackened ground. It feels like something uncovered rather than manufactured — a relic from a folklore that never quite vanished.
No casting. No shortcuts. Just time, tools, old metal, and patient hand work.

Why it feels special
What I love here is the tension between the materials.
The humble origin of the fork tine.
The historical weight of the old coin silver.
The richness of the gold moon.
Together they create a ring that feels both intimate and mythic — part relic, part talisman.
For the wearer
This is for someone drawn to ravens, moonlight, old silver, and pieces with a past already written into them. Someone who would rather wear a story than a trend. Someone who likes their jewellery to feel discovered, not produced.
Once, these materials moved through the ordinary world as useful things: passed hand to hand, kept in drawers, spent and forgotten. Now they return in another form entirely — darker, quieter, and wilder.
A raven, a moon, and a ring made from history itself.
A domestic relic.
A historic coin.
A sovereign moon.
Not spent.
Not discarded.
Transformed.
(Collector’s Note)
The Raven Moon Ring belongs to the Hairy Growler canon of pieces that feel like recovered relics — objects carrying both material history and symbolic charge. It sits naturally among works shaped by moonlight, folklore creatures, and the long memory of silver.
It is for the wearer who is drawn to ravens not simply as birds, but as archetypes. For someone who understands that preciousness does not come only from purity or shine, but from age, meaning, and transformation. For someone who wants a ring that feels private, storied, and quietly formidable.
