A little more detail…
Recycled silver Victorian shilling
This beautiful pendant is perfect for the snow loving, festive person in your life, be that you or someone close! As always, each and every necklace pendant is handmade and completely made from recycled raw materials. The raw material is a sterling silver Victorian shilling coin circa 1890’s. The coins i use are unwanted by coin collectors due to wear, etc.
The snowflake design is freehand drawn onto the sterling silver coin, several holes are drilled and a half section is delicately cut away. The edges are filed, smoothed and finally polished. The mirror image of the side cut away is meticulously carved into the remaining shilling segment. The end result is a lovely, original, recycled snowflake pendant with a fantastic history.
Snowflakes symbolize uniqueness and individuality due to their one-of-a-kind nature, but also represent broader concepts like purity, new beginnings, transformation, and the gentle arrival of grace. They are often associated with the holidays, winter, and a sense of peace or spiritual renewal, mirroring a person’s individual journey.
No two snowflakes are alike, making them potent symbols for embracing one’s unique qualities and authentic self. Their pure white color can symbolize new beginnings, serenity, and a cleansing of previous imperfections.
Their delicate, intricate forms and gentle descent can be seen as a symbol of grace, divine beauty, and a connection between the spiritual and earthly realms.
As a part of the winter season, snowflakes can signify the end of something and the start of a fresh chapter. In a Christian context, snowflakes can represent God’s grace and love, covering humanity’s sins and offering renewal.
Each one of these coin pendants i create is different, unusual and unique. Be assured that if you order one it will look equally as lovely!
