Willow Tree of Enchantment Ring – “Saille” – Ruler of the 5th Lunar Moonth – (15th April – 12th May)
Ogham tree ring made from a recycled silver Victorian Shilling.
The Willow of the sacred Ogham trees Tree of the 5th of the 13 Lunar Moonths. 15th April – 12th May seeing in the May Hare full moon.
The Willow is sacred and helps deal with grief, loss, depression and ultimately death. The willow also provides inspiration, emotional and psychological protection with a pathway for Love. Our ancestors thought it had the power to enhance fertility, which I also believe.
The Willow leaf ring I have created from a recycled silver coin are imbued with these connections and will make beautiful ring and protection amulet. The design is freehand drawn onto the slightly flattened silver shilling. I then meticulously follow this guide sketch with a traditional hand engraver. The design is then ‘pierced’ out with a traditional jewellers hand saw. It is these tools which allow me a close connection with each piece and to ensure your ring will be completely original and special to wear. The back of the ring is the Ogham rune for Saille. If preferred you are welcome to request an initial in place of the rune. The design is finished with a lovely hammer textured and faceted silver band also made from 100% recycled silver.
The ring is presented with the ‘donor’ silver shilling from which the leaf was hand cut. This is a lovely piece of silver which connects your ring to its previous wondrous history.
Size : The Willow leaf is approx 4 mm wide and 25 mm long.
Recycled in Cambridge. 100 year old+ Sterling silver coin.

Hairy Growler has been my favourite jeweller since I discovered Les’ incredible creations at All Saints market back in 2008. I often find myself browsing his website, and discovered the T of E ring about a month ago. I felt an instant connection with the ring, and its meaning resonated on so many levels. After a difficult year, that has involved two family bereavements and mental health struggles, I decided to gift myself the ring (not something I ordinarily do). When the box arrived in the post, I resisted the temptation of opening it, instead wrapping it up, and writing a label, with a message to myself before placing it under the tree. Come Christmas day, I saved it until last, waiting for evening, when the Xmas lights were twinkling, stars sparkling in the sky, and flickering light from the wood-burning stove added to the magical atmosphere of revealing Les’ beautiful piece of art. The ring is just stunning. And to discover there was a little bit more than what I was expecting was really touching. It’s hard to convey the emotion and moment in words. And to be wearing something that serves as a reminder for two deeply loved individuals, as support for the grieving process, that honours death as a part of life and transformation, means so much. And that the piece is so beautiful in itself makes it all the more special. I am always in awe of Les’ creativity and skill when I visit here and discover his new pieces, and am so grateful that the T of E ring was channelled and created at a time when it is so helpful. It joins me on daily wearing with the twin acorn leaf pendant that adorns my neck. Beautiful and comfortable. Thank you so much x
