“The Wolfpack.”
The pack of twelve, Unique wolves necklace handcrafted and recycled from a 100 year old silver Shilling coins.
This energy and wolf spirit filled necklace has been carefully and lovingly crafted from a selection of pre 1920 sterling silver one and two shilling, Florin coins. The majority of coins circulated over a hundred years ago are pure silver and the ones that are still remaining are in poor condition, from the point of view of a coin collector. The coins are thus only valued for their inherent scrap silver value, which is obviously a real shame. So rather than them being melted i like to flatten the coins and use the history and life of the coin as an extra element of interest and beauty. The Wolfpack is uniquely running with ruby eyed, sapphire eyed, emerald eyed wolves.
The wolf pack necklace is centered on a powerful duality: it represents both fierce, primal loyalty and the primal threat of the wild. While the “lone wolf” embodies independence, the image of the pack offers a complex and ancient metaphor for society, family, and the balancing of individual and collective strength.
The pack’s tight-knit structure symbolizes the profound importance of kinship and community. Unlike the common misconception of a dominance-based “alpha” hierarchy, modern understanding reveals wolf packs are structured like families, where parents lead their offspring. This dynamic represents a natural, cooperative, and deeply bonded family unit.
The pack’s ability to hunt and thrive depends on the cooperation of its members. This. Is a powerful metaphor for the idea that a collective is stronger than any single individual, with each member contributing to the group’s survival. Rudyard Kipling’s “Law of the Jungle” vividly captures this philosophy with the line, “The strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack”.
The ferocity with which wolves protect their family and territory symbolizes steadfast, protective love and fierce loyalty. The pack will defend its young and elders with a vigilance that mirrors deep devotion.
In contrast to the harmonious family unit, the wolf pack also represents the savage and untamable aspects of nature. The pack’s collective hunting prowess symbolizes a relentless, devouring force of nature. Historically, this image fueled fear in pastoral societies and led to tales like Little Red Riding Hood, where the wolf represents the dangers of the wild.
The wolfpack’s actions are driven by instinct rather than reason, representing the raw, untamed parts of the human psyche. Poets like Ted Hughes explored this, lamenting the loss of humanity’s “wolf-energies” and vital connection to the natural world.
The communal howl of a pack is a deeply poetic symbol of wilderness, communication, and spiritual connection. In some traditions, the howl is a spiritual call to the spirit world, an echo of a time when the world was more wild and interconnected.
While the pack is a powerful collective, it is composed of intelligent individuals. The pack serves as a reminder that belonging and teamwork do not require a loss of self, but rather a balance between one’s independent spirit and the needs of the community.
The resultant sterling silver twelve wolves necklace is suspended from strong, silver chain.

Ngiare Elliott –
Les has birthed the most magnificent silver wolfpack for me. Sparkling eyes, sharp little teeth, and each hair on their sleek bodies is perfect. They will never leave my neck. Les’s work is superb, and I feel so fortunate to have discovered it! I love and adore my little wolves, and they travelled across the world to little Tasmania, bless them – such a loooong journey. As Angela Carter wrote: “I love the company of wolves. Look out the window and you’ll see them.”
