Recycled silver coins
These beautiful, contemporary, eco-conscious and ethical rings dont cost the earth, literally and actually. They are available in all sizes, and each one is handcrafted to order from an 100 year old sterling silver British coin. The coin is cut, filed and shaped so that it is a comfortable, slim fitting, narrower width.
They are ideal if you have a big day planned in 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017 as you can select a coin which is exactly 100 years old to add significance and meaning to the ring.
Coins minted before 1920 in Britain (and many other countries) are sterling silver. These coins are just perfect to turn into rings. During the terrible world wars some artisan soilders would take these precious coins and transform them into rings for loved ones and to remind them of loved ones back ‘at home’. The resourcefulness of these soilders is admirable and inspiring. This resourceful intent has now resurfaced in my work as a silversmith with green ethics looking to create original and unusual wearable pieces of art. Trench art to recycled art.
There is no ‘join’ in these rings which is another reason they are just perfect as wedding bands, they are an ‘unbroken circle’, quite lovely and symbolic.
Smaller size rings are made using sterling silver Sixpences and Shillings. Medium size rings are made using Shillings and Florins, whilst larger rings are made using Florins and Halfcrowns. They all look fab. From the drop down menu you are able to request a specific width.
Below are a list of the maximum widths for each coin when transformed into a ring. You are welcome to request thinner bands for each coin but obviously not wider than stated.
Sizes : Approx
Sixpences approx 5 mm wide.
Shillings approx 6 mm wide.
Florins approx 7 mm wide.
Halfcrowns approx 10 mm wide.
“An unbroken circle of union…”

Amazing
My husband and i chose these rings as our matching wedding rings. The quality is amazing and they are so unique that people often comment on them. We went for Florins and love them.

Truely wonderful.
Love the fact the ring is made form a 100 year old coin, and the perfect unusual option for matching wedding rings. Everything right down to the postal packaging (with the little paper butterfly cut out and flying across the envelop) and the little paper confetti inside the ring wrapping, and the drawstring bags. All so beautifully executed. One word – Delighted!

Amazing
Having seen this amazing jewellery at a festival we decided to go ahead and get our wedding rings. Love the idea of having something that is 100 years old on our fingers, and they have been made to look beautiful too. We needed half sizes and this was no problem at all. Absolutely love them, many thanks!

Unique style
It’s a lovely ring bought for an engagement – I wanted to get something unique and this certainly fit the bill. I was pleased to see that the coin date (1917) was clearly visible. Thanks for making my proposal a success!
