Beckoning the Seed Moon

This lovely little pendant is hand cut from an old pure silver English silver Florin coin. Circa 1890’s these coins have a wonderful warmth and feel. Uncollectable to coin dealers due to excessive wear, these coins are the perfect raw material to recycle into something precious, unique and wearable.

The Seed Moon, or the new or early waxing moon, symbolizes potential, beginning, growth, and fertility in folklore and poetry, representing the nascent stage of life, agriculture, and new endeavors. In this phase, the moon is a celestial cue for planting seeds and the subsequent growth of crops, a time of quiet promise where the promise of a fruitful harvest is held within the small seed and the burgeoning moon.

Farmers have historically used the moon’s growth to guide their planting. The waxing moon, resembling the growing moon, was a time to sow seeds, as it was believed to correlate with the future growth and abundance of crops, much like the moon itself grows from new to full.

The small, unassuming seed held within it the “impossible promise” of a larger future, mirroring the moon’s own growth cycle. The new moon, or the very early stages of its waxing phase, often represents new beginnings and the start of new cycles.

The quiet stillness of the night under the early moon allows for reflection and the feeling that the earth itself is dreaming of future abundance. In essence, the Seed Moon poetically embodies the hope and potential held within small beginnings, the foundational act of planting, and the promise of future growth and abundance

Each and every one is meticulously hand-cut, hand-engraved and made with love! Included with the pendant is the beautiful ‘off-cut’ of silver coin which connects the wearer to its previous and wondrous history and green ethical origins.  Occasionally there will be an option two request two birds on the branch.
