Leaping foxes and dancing vixens.
vixen necklace – handmade and recycled silver half crown coin
Inspired by re-watching ‘The animals of Farthing wood’, i have crafted these Foxes and Vixen from sterling silver half crown coins.
Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox. Their cultural stories depict them as intelligent beings and as possessing magical abilities that increase with their age and wisdom. Folktales speak of kitsune being faithful guardians, friends, lovers, and wives. Foxes and human beings lived close together in ancient Japan; this companionship gave rise to legends about the creatures. Kitsunetsuki literally means the state of being possessed by a fox.
Vulpecula is a faint constellation in the northern sky. Its name is Latin for “little fox”, although it is commonly known simply as the fox.
The foxes and vixen have been roughly sketched onto the surface of the flattened silver coins (Gorgeous recycled sterling silver.) They are then cut out by hand using a traditional jewellers piercing saw. Each necklace ordered will be completely unique and individual. Be assured that it will be equally, if not more beautiful. You are welcome to select your fox or vixen and choose their decoration.
