Recycled silver shilling
“Let us wander where we will.”- (taken from a lovely Robert Louis Stevenson poem). I drew the idea for this necklace whilst consuming festival refreshments at Cropredy festival and somehow I scrumpled it up and threw it in the “i’m lazy and can’t deal with this at the moment, will sort you out next year” box which has half formed pieces, mistakes, broken tools, etc. Anyway I was looking for a small file and found it, remembered what I was thinking and made it from an old uncollectible silver Florin coin. A whimsical and beautiful necklace which is 100% handmade from recycled raw materials and is completely unique.
The coin has been flattened into a nice workable area. They are then hand sketched onto the surface and then cut out by hand with a traditional jewellers saw. You are welcome to request a tiny initial to be hand engraved onto the star she has collected during the night.
Obviously the ‘off-cut’ of the remaining silver coin is packed with the silver invitation for your interest and to keep its history, origin and story alive. The price for this piece also includes the silver chain.
100% Handcrafted & Recycled in Cambridge, UK
It is approx 30 mm * 30 mm so perfect to be worn all day everyday, especially if you have the Wanderlusts.
