Moon gazing hare jewellery – Recycled 22ct solid gold full Sovereign

I have decided to hand cut each one of these lovely moon gazing hare pendants from an 100 year 22ct solid gold sovereign coin. These lovely old 22ct gold coins are completely hand cut, hand carved and engraved in Cambridge using traditional tools and techniques.

The design is freehand drawn onto the gold coin. Several holes are drilled and the sections are delicately cut away. The edges are filed and the details are carefully hand carved, smoothed and finally polished. The end result is a lovely, original, recycled pendant with a fantastic history.

Not only are you are welcome to request some personal, meaningful initials for the reverse, you are also welcome to select what you would like growing in the field. Choose a wild mushroom, wonderful ‘love grows’ flower or simply wild grass.  The moon gazing hares gold coin pendant is presented on a fab gold necklace with a gold handmade shepherds crook safety catch and accompanying wee star, moon or heart…

Each pendant is carefully handcrafted to order, using only these recycled 100 year old 22ct solid gold coins. The coins themselves are the perfect medium for this beautiful design, inline with a love of nature using these coins is the perfect ethical and green solution. No new gold is destructively ‘mined’ and old, uncollectible pure gold coins are saved from the ‘melting pot’ of bullion merchants so some of their history and story live on.

Once the design has been freehand sketched on to the coin it is carefully hand cut and carved using traditional hand saws, chisels and files. This traditional process allows me to have a close connection to each piece, ensuring the end result is personal and unique.

Handmade and recycled in Cambridge, England. A gold chain complete with gold charm made from the scraps of the coin itself and hand wrought gold hook catch are included with this work.
