Two little lovebirds necklace – handcrafted & recycled sterling silver coins

This is literally the most versatile necklace I have ever made! Firstly; is this a gift or a guilty pleasure. Next, the King bird or the Queen bird… or both?! The you can have the added bonus of a sweetheart with a personalised initial. Will it be your initial to remind the receiver of their generous friend, or will it be theirs, because this little lovebirds necklace is a good enough reminder anyway… With any choice, this necklace is a gorgeous reminder of one of the most important things in life: keep love close at hand and close in heart.

This little necklace is made out of recycled silver coins, hand cut and carved with centuries-old techniques and using traditional tools worthy of such a ceremony. Discarded and uncollectible by numismatists (coin collectors), the coins I use for this necklace are just screaming out to be recycled. I invest time into creating a piece which is beautiful and ethical. My aim is to not only create a contemporary, wearable design but also revive some of the original history. I preserve these coins for a future generation. Firstly, I draw the design freehand drawn onto the sterling silver coin. Then I drill several holes and cut the sections delicately away. I file, smooth and finally polish the edges. The end result is a lovely, original, recycled lovebirds necklace with a captivating history.

Each one of the wee birds jewellery I create is different, unusual and unique. Be assured that if you order one it will look equally as lovely!

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen). The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
