This lovely little lucky silver hare threepence coin rings celebrate the beauty of nature and the wonder of life. It is still possible to remove all preconceived ideas, ‘education’ and theories of man placed in your mind through verbal language and gaze at the moon in complete and utter wonder. She is a beautiful celestial body, emitting an unusual hypnotic light devoid of the colour spectrum. Using our senses; like animals we can study her and gain knowledge of our own existence. First hand personal observations and understandings of the moon give me a true and deep connection with the earth and my existence in this objective reality we have found ourselves!

Each one of these rings is handcrafted from a pair of genuine sterling silver pre 1919 English silver threepence. Each and every one of these is handmade in Cambridge using traditional tools and techniques. Each and every feather is uniquely carved and engraved, they are a joy to create and I hope that is shown in the little finished piece.

Sterling silver was the choice material of all English Threepence’s, Sixpence’s, Shilling’s, Florins, Half-Crowns and Crown coins before 1919. This presents a great opportunity to create precious metal recycled jewellery.

The vast majority of these coins have suffered substantial wear over their years of circulation. It is these coins which are not valued by most coin collectors. In most cases these coins are acquired to be melted down for the basic silver value. This disappointing truth means that all of the history, details and interest of the coin are lost forever. Recycling the coins allows these original details to survive and become conversation. Obviously it is important for the piece of jewellery to be desirable, wearable and beautiful!
