A little more detail…
Inspired by the awesome drawings and illustrations by Ernst Haeckel born in 1834 Ernst Haeckel This lovely jellyfish is crafted from an British sterling silver One Florin – two shilling coin.
The coin was flattened out in my usual manner. Once stretched out to the desired working shape i simply drew the free swimming medusa jellyfish design on with a fine nibbed marker pen. This rough sketch is then embellished and used as a approx guide line for my piercing saw work. From here the pendant was filed, sanded, polished and finished with a lovely recycled semi precious moonstone or star.
The jellyfish represents a powerful paradox: their delicate, transparent forms symbolize vulnerability and surrender to life’s currents, while their potent sting embodies hidden strength and resilience. They represent adaptability and fluidity in the face of change, offering lessons on finding a balanced existence between yielding and asserting oneself. They can be seen as symbols of intuition, emotional depth, and the inherent mystery of life and perception.
The jellyfish’s translucent, amorphous body drifts effortlessly with the ocean’s currents, symbolizing a willingness to be moved by life’s events and to accept what comes. Despite their fragile appearance, jellyfish possess a powerful sting, which serves as a potent reminder of their inner strength and ability to defend themselves when necessary. The creature’s amorphous nature teaches the power of fluidity and adaptability, showing how to yield to currents rather than resist them, especially in times of constant change.
:
The ability of the “immortal jellyfish” to revert to its polyp stage can symbolize regeneration and resilience, offering a message of hope for overcoming challenges. The jellyfish spirit animal is often associated with emotional depth and intuition, encouraging us to explore our inner selves and understand our emotions.
The jellyfish embodies the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength, between flowing with the world and finding one’s own rhythm, urging individuals to find their place within the vastness of existence

This is such a unique pendant! Having grown up on the east coast of the US, I love anything having to do with the ocean and beach. I’ve gotten so many compliments on this piece. The detail is amazing. Love it!
