A little more detail…
Meet Me at the Oak Tree
A hare and oak necklace made from British silver coins too good to be lost.
Some pieces are made to be kept.
Meet Me at the Oak Tree is a necklace formed entirely from 100% recycled British sterling silver coins — coins that were too worn, too characterful, and too storied to be melted down and lost to refinery. Instead, they are reworked by hand into a piece that carries both material history and living symbolism.
Reclaimed Silver with a Past
Every element of this necklace begins with old British sterling silver coins.
These are coins that have already passed through countless hands, carrying softened edges, subtle marks, and the quiet weight of use. Rather than erasing that history, the silver is cut, shaped, and finished in a way that allows its past to remain present.
This approach treats silver not as raw material, but as something already complete — worthy of continuation rather than reduction.
The Hare
The hare appears at either side of the necklace, alert and in motion.
Across folklore and landscape, the hare is associated with awareness, intuition, and liminality — a creature that exists between stillness and sudden movement, dusk and dawn. Here, the hares are textured by hand, their surfaces catching light differently as the necklace moves.
They act as guardians of the central form rather than decoration.
Oak Leaves & Acorn
At the heart of the necklace sit oak leaves and an acorn.
Oak is a long-standing symbol of endurance, protection, and continuity. The leaves speak of growth and strength, while the acorn holds the idea of potential — the future contained within the present.
Cut from reclaimed silver, the oak forms are polished to a soft brightness, creating a gentle contrast against the darker, more textured hares.
Made by Hand
Each element of Meet Me at the Oak Tree is saw-pierced and finished by hand.
The necklace is assembled link by link, with attention given to balance, movement, and comfort when worn. No casting or mass production is used; variation remains part of the finished piece.
This slow process ensures the necklace feels considered rather than manufactured.
Wear, Patina & Collectability
Because the necklace is made from reclaimed sterling silver, it will continue to develop patina through wear.
Highlights will soften, shadows will deepen, and the piece will record use rather than resist it. These changes add to its character and individuality over time.
Made from silver that was already too good to be melted down, the necklace holds a sense of collectability — an object preserved and reimagined rather than consumed.
Meaning & Wearing
Meet Me at the Oak Tree speaks of meeting places — both physical and symbolic.
It suggests return, continuity, and quiet understanding. Some are drawn to its folklore symbolism, others to its material honesty and hand-crafted presence.
Meaning is not fixed; it gathers slowly through wear and association.
Too Good to Melt
Meet Me at the Oak Tree is jewellery made from silver that deserved another life.
It stands as an alternative to refinement and loss — a piece that preserves material, memory, and craft in equal measure.
