oak leaf acorn ring Recycled silver
A lovely simple and rustic oak leaf ring which is handcrafted using traditional hand tools and techniques. They result is unusual, completely unique but have also been transformed from an 100 year old silver forks and coins.
The oak leaf symbolizes strength, endurance, wisdom, and protection, reflecting the tree’s immense longevity and deep roots. It represents divine authority and courageous leadership. The oak leaf also signifies the connection between the earthly and spiritual realms, embodying stability and resilience.
The oak’s resilience and long lifespan make its leaves a potent symbol of enduring strength and steadfastness. Ancient cultures believed oak trees were the dwelling places of wise spirits, linking the leaves to deep-rooted wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge. Oaks were seen as guardians, and the planting of rowan trees (though a different species, the same sentiment applies) near homes and gardens for protection. The Druids also use oak leaves for spiritual and physical protection. Sacred to kings, druids, and great warriors, the oak leaf symbolizes courage and might, especially in battle. The Druids, the ancient priests of Britain, considered the oak sacred, wearing crowns of oak leaves to represent their connection to nature and spiritual power.
The acorn symbolizes immense potential and great things from small beginnings because a tiny acorn can grow into a mighty oak tree. It represents strength, endurance, health, and longevity, with ancient cultures carrying acorns as protective charms and symbols of good fortune. The acorn also embodies fertility and rebirth, signifying the cyclical nature of life, death, and renewal within the natural world.
The most fundamental representation of the acorn is that a massive oak tree emerges from a small, seemingly ordinary seed, representing the potential for great things to arise from humble origins. The acorn serves as a reminder that even within the smallest things, there is untapped potential waiting to become something magnificent, encouraging recognition of one’s own inner capabilities.
Associated with the powerful and resilient oak tree, the acorn is seen as a symbol of strength, endurance, and good health. Ancient cultures revered the acorn, with grooms in the Middle Ages carrying them as charms to ensure health and a long life. In some traditions, it was also a symbol of immortality.
The oak leaf design is freehand drawn onto the slightly flattened silver shilling. I then meticulously follow this guide sketch with a traditional hand engraver. The design is then ‘pierced’ out with a traditional jewellers hand saw. It is these tools which allow me a close connection with each piece and to ensure your ring will be completely original and special to wear. The design is finished with a lovely hammer textured and faceted silver band also made from 100% recycled silver.
The ring is presented with the ‘donor’ silver sixpence from which the leaf was hand cut. This is a lovely piece of silver which connects your ring to its previous wondrous history.
Size : The oak leaf is approx 5 mm wide and 10 mm long.

I love this ring – I have it with the leaf cut from a half penny rather than in silver, and it makes me smile every time I look at my hand!
