Recycled silver Florin coin

This beautiful little spring inspired tree has been meticulously crafted from an old English sterling silver Florin coin. The coin itself was minted pre 1920 from the finest silver.

Undesirable to coin collectors due to signs of wear from over 100 years of being traded, spent and saved, i find myself in the lucky position of being able to save it from the pile of scrap silver coins that never see the light of day. Not only does the silver ‘some-how’ feel warmer and more beautiful it also has the depth of its history behind it. This combined with the fact that it is more ethical and green to use than freshly mined and processed silver make it the perfect raw material for a gorgeous tree pendant!

Once flattened into the required shape, the spring leaf tree design is roughly drawn onto the coin surface. This trace outline is carefully followed with an ultra fine piercing saw blade. The interior detail is revealed using the same hand saw and a pendant drill. T

The ‘off – cut’ of silver coin is included for interest and provenance.

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..

Medium size : approx 195 mm

Large size : approx 210 mm (good size if you want a looser dangly medium fit)
