A little more detail…
The Gates of Moria – Recycled sterling silver Half Crown coins
Or the Doors of Durin, are symbols of the once-great friendship and collaboration between Elves and Dwarves, particularly the Noldorin Elves of Eregion and the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm, represented by Celebrimbor and Narvi. The door features symbols of both peoples, including the Dwarven hammer and anvil, the crown and stars of Durin, and the trees of Valinor, which reflects their shared passion for crafts and their ability to unite their disparate skills to create something lasting and beautiful.
The symbol of Durin, a crown with seven stars, is depicted with an anvil and hammer below it, representing the Dwarves’ deep pride in their craftsmanship, smithing, and mining.
The emblem of the patriarch of the Dwarven people, and a symbol of the Valar Aulë, the creator of the Dwarves the Crown and the Seven Stars.
The Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin, are represented by two trees surmounted by crescent moons, symbolizing their connection to ancient Elven history and their origins in the blessed realm.
A single star with many rays serves as the emblem of the House of Fëanor, a nod to Celebrimbor, one of the door’s smiths and a descendant of Fëanor.
The arch of the doors features an Elvish inscription in the Tengwar script, a clear sign of the door’s intended purpose as a bridge between Elves and Dwarves.
The doors themselves, a marvel of dwarven stonework and elven craft, are a testament to the unique and powerful bond between the two races. “Speak, Friend, and Enter”:
The famous riddle above the doors, “Speak, friend, and enter,” embodies the ultimate goal of the collaboration—to allow passage to those with true friendship and loyalty
Made from a couple of beautiful 200 year old silver half crown coins. They are set with a lovely emerald in a gold seat and the reverse has the password.
Inspired by my love of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books. You are welcome to request a particular stone and personal secret engraving.
The necklace is finished with a hand wrought ‘shepherds crook’ safety catch with accompanying feature star.
Size : Approx 40 mm * 30 mm
