Mermaid necklace – Ethically handmade and Recycled silver Half-Crown coin

This gorgeous mermaid pendant has been carefully and lovingly crafted from an old sterling silver English half Crown coin. The majority of coins circulated over a hundred years ago are pure silver and the ones that are still remaining are in poor condition, from the point of view of a coin collector. The coins are thus only valued for their inherent scrap silver value, which is obviously a real shame. They are definitely the sort of coins you would find at the bottom of the ocean in a lost treasure trove!

Rather than the coins being melted, i like to flatten the coins and use the history and life of the coin as an extra element of interest and beauty. The resultant sterling silver mermaid pendant is suspended from a delicate, unobtrusive, yet ultra strong silver chain. The safety catch is also a sterling silver handmade fish hook style catch complete with wee seahorse.  Within her grasp is a silver oyster complete with precious Ruby set in 18ct gold.

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
