Recycled silver Florin coin
This beautiful and lovely shiny tree necklace has been meticulously crafted from an old English sterling silver Florin coin. The coin itself was minted from the finest silver.
Undesirable to coin collectors due to signs of wear from over 100 years of being traded and saved, i find myself in the lucky position of being able to save it from the pile of scrap silver coins that never see the light of day. Not only does the silver ‘some-how’ feel warmer and more beautiful it also has the depth of its history behind it. This combined with the fact that it is more ethical and green to use than freshly mined and processed silver make it the perfect raw material for a gorgeous tree pendant!
Once flattened into the required shape, the lovely spring tree design is roughly drawn onto the coin surface. This trace outline is carefully followed with an ultra fine piercing saw blade. The interior detail is revealed using the same hand saw and a pendant drill.
The tree is finished with a Hairy Growler bronze star or Silver star, etc, hanging freely at bale or from the handmade ‘shepards crook’ safety catch if the silver chain option is chosen. As an added piece of provenance and interest for the wearer the ‘off-cut’ of the sterling silver coin is included.
