Recycled silver Shilling, Piece of My Heart

Both the love heart and jigsaw piece are fabulous symbols which have so many potential meanings for both the ‘wearer’ and those who come in contact with them.

I have hand carved the heart and star pieces from an old English sterling silver shilling coin and the jigsaw is hand-pierced from an old brass/bronze ‘thrupney-bit’ (3d) coin. The two colours balance and contrast with each other beautifully. Small, cute, gorgeous and recycled.

Each set I make is completely unique, original and totally green. The silver shillings coins I use have become uncollectible due to wear and use over 100 years of trade. Important details to a collector are missing, rendering the coin ‘scrap’. This allows the opportunity to create new, contemporary offerings, without consuming newly processed silver. The mining and processing of precious metals is extremely destructive to the environment. An unseen and little talked about unethical industry.

Brilliant

A piece of my heart arrived this morning all wonderfully packaged and ready to give to my niece for her belated 18th birthday prezzie.

As per usual, it is wonderfully crafter and looks absolutely beautiful and I’m sure she’s going to love it and if she doesn’t I will be changing my name to Amy and keeping it for myself 🙂

Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another piece in future

‘A Piece of My Heart’ was ordered as a surprise gift for my girlfriends Christmas, she was thrilled with it. The necklace can be personalised with charms and initial’s etc so even though you choose the template the finished result feels as though it’s the only one.
Wouldn’t mind a piece for myself now.

My wife loves this as it’s unusual, likes the fact it comes old unusable coins. I have the old penny with the cut out of shrooms. People marvel at how intricate it is. It’s all cool.very cool.

This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen). The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
