A Little more detail…

Rowan leaf jewellery made from reused silver, copper and bronze coins.

A beautiful tree whose slender trunk supports wonderful branches covered in glorious fingers of leaves. The Rowan tree Im lucky enough to have in my garden has a Iovely ‘voice’ as I hear it. The leaves just dance in the breeze and its sings a gorgeous song which has inspired many a piece thats for sure. Its known that a Rowan tree / witchwood / mountain Ash in your garden kicks the arse of spirits with bad intent, I assume that’s due to the branches making wavy handy sounds and vibrations and probably part of the reason they are used as specific wands.
The rowan tree, also known as mountain ash, is rich in poetic symbolism, embodying themes of protection, resilience, and connection to the mystical and natural world. It’s often associated with Celtic and Norse mythology, where it’s linked to deities, healing, and the power to ward off evil.

Protection:The rowan is widely known for its protective qualities, particularly against witchcraft and enchantment. This belief stems from the tree’s physical characteristics, like the five-pointed star shape on the end of its berries, and its vibrant red color, traditionally associated with warding off evil, according to Trees for Life.

Resilience and Strength:The rowan’s ability to thrive in harsh environments, like rocky hillsides and high altitudes, makes it a symbol of resilience and strength. Its ability to survive and flourish in challenging conditions is reflected in its portrayal in literature and art as a symbol of perseverance.

Connection to the Mystical:The rowan is often considered a “faerie tree” and is associated with the otherworld and spiritual realms. Its presence in folklore and mythology often connects it to deities like Thor (Norse) and Brigid (Celtic), as well as to ancient burial sites and sacred spaces.

Healing and Rebirth:In some traditions, the rowan is linked to healing and rebirth, symbolizing the cyclical nature of life and the renewal of spring. Its connection to the goddess Brigid, associated with fire and healing, further reinforces this symbolism.

Balance and Vision:The rowan is also seen as a symbol of balance, vision, and original thinking, particularly in the context of Celtic astrology where individuals born under the rowan zodiac sign are believed to be creative and original thinkers, according to Precision Tree & Landscape

The leaves I have created from a recycled silver, copper and bronze coins are imbued with these connections and will make beautiful necklace and protection amulet. Each Town leaves pendant is lovingly handcrafted to order and a delight to make.
