The bonnie Ash tree ring

The bonnie Ash tree ring

Ash – “Nion” – Ruler of the 3rd Lunar Moonth – (18th Feb – 17th March)

Ogham tree ring made from a recycled silver Victorian Shilling.  Given to the third moonth of the thirteen month Lunar calendar (18th feb – 17th March) The Third Moon month of Ash.  The collection of jewellery celebrating the Ash tree of life and its connection to our existence.  The symbolic nature of protection, power, health and courage present in each piece.  There are many place names with the syllable ‘Ask’ – the Norse word for Ash, for example:  – Askrigg in Yorkshire, Port Askaig in Argyllshire, Askham in Furness in Lancashire.

The Ash leaf ring I have created from a recycled silver coin are imbued with these connections and will make beautiful ring and protection amulet.  The design is freehand drawn onto the slightly flattened silver shilling. I then meticulously follow this guide sketch with a traditional hand engraver. The design is then ‘pierced’ out with a traditional jewellers hand saw. It is these tools which allow me a close connection with each piece and to ensure your ring will be completely original and special to wear. The back of the ring is the Ogham rune for Ash. If preferred you are welcome to request an initial in place of the rune. The design is finished with a lovely hammer textured and faceted silver band also made from 100% recycled silver.

The ring is presented with the ‘donor’ silver shilling from which the leaf was hand cut. This is a lovely piece of silver which connects your ring to its previous wondrous history.

Size : The Alder leaf is approx 10 mm wide and 30 mm long.

Recycled in Cambridge. 100 year old+ Sterling silver coin.
