The little moon gazer
Moon gazing rabbit necklace pendant – handmade and recycled sterling silver coins
The little moon gazer in your life. A wonderfully magical moon gazing hare hiding in the green fields near your tree of life. She may represent you or the free spirit in your life, either way she looks beautiful on a necklace by herself or with your other tree of life charms.
The hare often embodies fertility, rebirth, and transformation, drawing upon ancient associations with spring, the moon, and love. It can also represent intuition, vigilance, and adaptability, as well as themes of mortality and luck. The hare’s elusive nature and swiftness contribute to its symbolic complexity, often appearing in contexts of both danger and magic.
Fertility and Rebirth:The hare’s prolific breeding and connection to spring have long linked it to fertility and renewal. In some traditions, hares are associated with goddesses of love and fertility like Aphrodite and Venus. Their ability to seemingly give birth without impregnation (due to superfetation) also contributed to this symbolism.
Transformation and Change:Like the changing seasons, the hare’s seasonal shedding of its coat and its swift movements symbolize transformation and adaptability. It can represent a call to embrace change and navigate life’s complexities with agility.
Vigilance and Intuition:Hares are known for their alertness and keen senses, making them symbols of intuition and awareness. They can represent the need to be perceptive and responsive to one’s surroundings.
Trickster and Magic:In folklore, hares can be tricksters, embodying cleverness and cunning. They are also associated with magic and mystery, often appearing in tales of shapeshifting and divination.
Moon and Lunar Cycles:Hares are often linked to the moon, particularly in East Asian cultures where the moon goddess is depicted with a hare. This connection further emphasizes themes of cyclical change and renewal.
Ancient Greece and Rome: Associated with love, fertility, and sacrifice to gods of love.
China and Japan: Linked to the moon goddess and immortality.
Germanic traditions: Connected to the goddess Eostre, the inspiration for Easter.
Paganism: Represents fertility, rebirth, and transformation, with hares appearing in various rituals and myths
Christianity: Symbol of resurrection and new life, often associated with Easter.

Fantastic!
I bought this fantastic piece, along with the silver star for my daughter’s 30th birthday. She was trilled with the pieces, which had been carefully and loving made and packed. She says they will be cherished family pieces – hopefully to be passed on by her some day. The detail in each piece is wonderful. We are both really pleased and will be ordering more pieces soon.

Beautiful, unique jewellery
I absolutely adore my moon gazing hare, she sits very well with the little moon and stars and wonderful oak leaf. The jewellery is beautifully made and I love that you can see details of the coin it is cut from on the back of the pendants. A wonderful Xmas present, thank you.

Wonderful
The little moon gazer I received is wonderful.
I ordered with an additional moon and star and it is a perfect combination.
The chain is great too, much easier to use than traditional clasps which are fiddley, well worth investing in a chain to complete the set!
