Dandelion clock jewellery – handmade with love and recycled from a vintage fruit spoon.

Dandelion clocks, the seed heads of dandelions, are richly connected to our childhood and thus the passage of time, and the fleeting nature of life. They symbolize a connection to nature, evoke nostalgia, and can also represent wishes, hope, and new beginnings. Blowing on a dandelion clock to make a wish is a common childhood activity, linking it to innocence, playfulness, and carefree moments.

The transformation from a bright yellow flower to a delicate, airy seed head mirrors the progression of time and the cyclical nature of life. The act of blowing the seeds away can symbolize the passing of moments, years, or even generations. The ease with which the dandelion seeds are scattered by the wind highlights the fragility and transience of life, reminding us to appreciate each moment.

Dandelion clocks are often associated with making wishes, adding a layer of hope and optimism to their character.

The design is individually freehand sketched onto the surface of the spoon. A jewellers piercing saw is used to delicately cut and carve the design from the spoon. The pendant is then gently ‘tumble’ polished to give it a brilliant white silver lustre. It is finished with a wee charm. For your own customisation you can choose the type of finish and style of wee charm. The actual ‘donor’ spoon can also included which closely connects the wearer to the interesting prior history and green, ethical origins.

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen).  The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
