Feather ethical jewellery – handmade and Recycled silver Florins
These lovely pendants are hand cut from 100 year old pure silver British Florin coins. Circa 1890’s these coins have a wonderful warmth and feel. Uncollectable to coin dealers due to excessive wear, these coins are the perfect raw material to recycle into something precious, unique and wearable.
Feathers were worn by Native American Chiefs to express their celestial wisdom. Feathers represented the power of the thunder gods, along with the power of air and wind.
As a Celtic symbol meaning, the feather was worn by Druids in ceremonies to invoke the sky gods.
The Egyptians believed that feathers were symbolic of sky gods too. Ma’at, the Egyptian goddess of justice, would weigh the hearts of the newly dead in the underworld against the weight of a feather to determine the worthiness of his or her soul.
In dreams feathers are believed to relate to travel or the ability to move more freely in life. White feathers in dreams indicate innocence or a fresh start in a spiritual sense. The ‘off-cut’ of the silver Florin is included to complete the origin story of the piece.

All of your pieces are stunning, you have such a unique talent. I have chosen the feather necklace to review because it is beautiful in its simplicity, feathers like these are sent from angels! I can’t wait to purchase one 🙂
