Hawthorn May tree – “Huath” – Ruler of the 6th Lunar Moonth – (13th May – 9th June)
Ogham tree ring made from a recycled silver Victorian Shilling. Given to the sixth moonth of the thirteen month Lunar calendar (13th May – 9h June.) By ancestors the May tree. Tree of the faeries. A happy, wild and enchanted tree full of mystery and life, bringing with her deep roots and protective thorns.”
The May leaf ring I have created from a recycled silver coin are imbued with these connections and will make beautiful ring and protection amulet. The design is freehand drawn onto the slightly flattened silver shilling. I then meticulously follow this guide sketch with a traditional hand engraver. The design is then ‘pierced’ out with a traditional jewellers hand saw. It is these tools which allow me a close connection with each piece and to ensure your ring will be completely original and special to wear. The back of the ring is the Ogham rune for Huath. If preferred you are welcome to request an initial in place of the rune. The design is finished with a lovely hammer textured and faceted silver band also made from 100% recycled silver.
The ring is presented with the ‘donor’ silver shilling from which the leaf was hand cut. This is a lovely piece of silver which connects your ring to its previous wondrous history.
Size : The Hawthorn leaf is approx 15 mm wide and 20 mm long.
Recycled in Cambridge. 100 year old+ Sterling silver coin.
