Moonlight Passage
Recycled sterling silver Crown and Half Crown
Moonlight Passage – seven rabbits dancing with the moon… and with the added bonus of a little gemstone too. I hand cut each each rabbit individually from a recycled sterling silver Victorian or Georgian sixpence coin. I carve them using traditional hand tools and age old techniques worthy of such ceremony. Coincidently, coin collectors do not value these shillings. This is down to marks and blemishes on the surface. Wear and tear make these coins unwanted – but not to me. I transformed them into something desirable. My aim is to create designs and ideas to preserve the coins’ personalities and quirks. I do this to retain the coins’ history, which adds depth, interest and intrigue to the design. I preserve these coins for a future generation, making them into your own Moonlight Passage.
Firstly, I draw the design freehand drawn onto the sterling silver coin. Then I drill several holes and cut the sections delicately away. I file, smooth and finally polish the edges. I finish the necklace with a hand wrought ‘shepherd’s crook’ safety catch with accompanying star. You are welcome to choose a particular necklace length, type of charm at the catch, etc. You may also want to pick your gemstone too – ruby, emerald, amethyst or citrine. These will be set in a gorgeous 18ct. I can carve any personal initials on the reverse onto your own silver rabbit necklace.
Each one of these coin pendants I create is different, unusual and unique. Be assured that if you order a Moonlight Passage, it will look equally as lovely!
