Owl coin jewellery – Three recycled silver shillings.
Another pendant which is a joy and a priveledge to create. The Moonlit owl design is based around recycling three simple sterling silver shillings circa 1895. The resultant pendant is a lovely little lump of silver! As with all Hairy Growler jewellery each and every one ordered is completely unique, hand made and 100% recycled.
The design is freehand sketched onto the surface of the coins. A jewellers piercing saw is used to delicately cut and carve the design from the coins. The pendant is then gently filed, shaped, polished and oxidised to give it a brilliant silver finished contrasted with the black oxidisation of the midnight sky. It is finished with a bronze moon also cut from an 100 year old coin. The moon can be silver upon request.
You are welcome to request a simple inscription of initials on the reverse of the pendant. If this option is chosen i will use a much less detailed, but perhaps much older, i.e. 1800’s silver shilling for the reverse of the pendant. The worn details on the reverse will give me a surface to inscribe.
If no engraving is requested the reverse will be like the necklace in the picture. I will use a fab hostorically detailed coin, which will be a lovely little secret history for the wearer to share.

Les, I had my eyes on this piece (Moonlit Owl) for a long time before ordering it, astounded by your design and craftsmanship. I am happy to say that it is even more impressive in person! I love it so much. It got here on Christmas Eve and I opened it on Christmas morning. It’s my first Hairy Growler piece, and it will not be my last. Thanks so much!
