Recycled silver coins
We currently have a lovely ‘piratesque’ canvas money bag full of very old (1800’s) sterling silver English sixpence and threepence coins. These were a lucky purchase from a coin collector who was selling them due to them not being ‘mint’ examples. Since getting my hands on them I have been thinking about possible ways to creatively recycle them.
These lovely tree cufflinks are cut from some of the sterling silver 1880’s sixpences. After being individually hand carved, engraved and cut with traditional tools they are then fused onto the surface of more silver sixpences. This double layer provides a wonderful depth and background contract for the oak trees. The opposite sides are sterling silver traditional ‘toggle’ cufflink attachments. The reverse of each cufflink can be engraved with two significant initials upon request.
