A little more detail…
Green man jewellery handmade and recycled silver coins
The nature of the Green Man revolves around themes of nature’s cycles, embodying growth, fertility, and rebirth as the spirit of the forest and the wild. The idea represents the inexhaustible regenerative powers of nature, the cycle of life, death, and renewal, and serves as a symbol of the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural world.
A primary symbolism is the unending cycle of growth, decay, and renewal. He heralds the vibrant resurgence of vegetation in spring after the dormancy of winter. He embodies the untamed, primal forces of the forest and the wild. The Green Man is a symbol of life’s abundance, growth, and the regenerative powers of the earth.
He represents the vital life force and is seen as a connection between humanity and the natural world, symbolizing the triumph of nature.
Carvings found in medieval churches serve as a reminder of humanity’s place in the natural order and the hope of rejuvenation after death. The Green Man is a multifaceted figure representing the eternal life and powerful spirit of the natural world, a symbol that continues to inspire and provoke thought across various cultures and spiritual practice
He has been created and recycled from two sterling silver coins circa 1880’s, absolutely lovely silver to work with. The process used to make it, as with every Hairy Growler piece only involves traditional hand tools and methods. Every piece is hand cut, filed and polished by myself in Cambridge. Each Greenman i create will be made using the exact same process and materials and the end result will be guaranteed to be equally as lovely if not more so. Upon request I have created two other members of the Green Man family. One is an Autumn woodland Green Man and the other is a golden summertime Green Man. You can see these on my Facebook page or blog. If you would prefer one on these please feel free to contact me with your request.
