Recycled silver coins

These lovely starry owls cufflinks have been recycled from two English sterling silver shillings and two silver three pences. These coins are unwanted by coin collectors due to wear marks from being used to buy and sell over one hundred years ago.

Rather than let them simply be melted down for the silver content I absolutely love coming up with designs and ideas to transform them into something desirable. By doing this the historical details are retained, simultaneously adding depth, interest and intrigue to the design.

The owls have been individually hand cut from the silver shillings with a traditional jewellers saw. The opposite side of the cufflink is the sterling silver three pence from which I have cut a small star and crescent moon. The cufflink chain is also completely recycled sterling silver made at the workshop.

NECKLACE INFORMATION

Many of the necklace / pendant designs are complete. These designs have a sterling silver chain attached to the pendant from both sides. This design is perfect for looking in a mirror to fasten the necklace. It also makes a fabulous feature of the handmade hook catch (and star if chosen). The necklace length you choose includes the length of the actual pendant. Do not worry about the pendant dimensions we will take care of your order. Order the necklace length you would normally wear and the necklace you receive will sit in the perfect position..
