Strawberry Moon – gazing hare
Handmade Strawberry Moon & Hare Pendant — Recycled 1986 coin
Some nights stay with you long after they pass.
There are moons that feel thicker, brighter — full and warm like a story unfolding. The Strawberry Moon, a moment each year when the sky feels ripe and the world seems to pause just long enough for wonder.
Strawberry Moon gazer is a handcrafted pendant made from a recycled 1986 coin, transformed by hand into a scene of quiet watchfulness: a hare gazing up at a textured moon and stars, nestled among gentle grass and wild magical mushrooms.
This is jewellery that feels like a memory — a sky that holds a moment, and a little hare that remembers what it saw.
The Coin and the Craft
This piece begins with an original 1986 coin, made of copper and worn softly with age. Too charming to melt away, the penny has been reclaimed, cut, shaped and engraved in the Hairy Growler workshop using traditional tools.
Each cut into the metal is deliberate. The moon was carved and textured to suggest its cratered surface, the stars placed with intention, and the hare itself crafted fur line by fine fur line — a moment in metal that could only be made by hand.
No casting. No shortcuts. Just patience, attention, and respect for the material.
Hand Engraving & Texture
The hare’s fur is built through tiny engraved lines, each catching light differently as the pendant moves. The moon’s craters nestle shadows and soft highlights. Darkened patina settles into the low points, letting the form emerge with depth and presence.
This is a piece that changes in the light — bright in sunshine, mysterious under dusk — just like the strawberry moon it honours.
Meaning & Occasion
Strawberry Moon Gazer is named for its spirit:
40 years lived.
40 Strawberry moons.
40 moments held.
This necklace makes a thoughtful gift for a 40th birthday — something personal and symbolic that feels both timeless and true.
But it also speaks to anyone drawn to night skies, to folklore, to urban myth and lunar magic. A quiet reminder that some moments are worth pausing for, and some nights stay with us forever.
Strawberry Moon Gazer
A copper coin reborn —
a hare beneath the moon,
a sky full of stars,
and a moment suspended in time.
Not new…
just seen clearly.
